I know these are now an increasingly rare commodity, but I have a family forty minus that I'd like to try and get going again.

Does anyone know where to get spare parts but also of anyone that can help resolve technical issues etc. I know of Villiersparts.co.uk but are there any others that you can point me to?

Thanks

How rare are they? I saw a complete one left beside a marina garbage skip a year or two ago. My instinct was that if anyone else had given up on it, it would be too much for me to put right.

That appears to be the instinct of many who put doubtfully functional examples on Ebay, too.

I'd love one that worked properly.

I bought mine for 50 quid off ebay. They're very simple engines and I've had no problem with getting spares and love it to bits - it will outlive any other outboard.
The only thing to watch out for is a crack in the engine block, anything else can be fixed.

25:1 ...... that slick behind ..... the unique sound as it goes across harbour ...

Yep I've had a few .... featherweights ... minus .. plus .. long .. short .... yep !

Ihave a 40 plus in my basement that motored me through the Brittany canal on the transome of a 27foot Commando class yacht, died getting me into Coruna and was resurrected by a Spanish fisherman who last year handed it back to me….I gave it to his brother backin 1982

Should you have spare time and prepared to travel the Henley boat show has a chap who exhibits a display of seagulls -others with an interest in the Thames etc will no doubt know him well though but leaving him aside it’s an interesting parochial show to vist for a collection of old cars and classic old river types in their attire. The beer tent and food puts SBS to shame
