Hi there

I have always used a bottle of Seafoam periodically just to keep things ticking over. I know opinions vary on the effectiveness of the stuff but my question is will a wet exhaust have any effect other than not being able to see the smoke it produces? I want to put it through my old Penta aq131.

Cheers

You’ll still see the smoke alright…if it’s dosed heavy enough. Just like almost any other marine engine or outboard would. You’d do well to find a marine engine that doesn’t have a wet exhaust, I’d think.

I should also have said that it’s an underwater exhaust. So will that have any effect on the process other than being unable to see the additive working via the smoke?

Hi. I think you’ll still see the smoke. It will find its way to the surface, just like the smoke from a 2 stroke outboard, with through prop and under water exhaust (for the most part) Hope that helps.
