Seafarer Instruments

I have a set of venerable but effective Seafarer Voyager instruments. The wind direction indicator has started hunting round the dial (although the speed display seems to remain accurate). Has anyone else experinced this? Can anyone suggest if the problem is in the instrument or mastehead fitting? Any help much appreciated.
