Seadrift 20?

Built by Pearn of (?) Looe (or somewhere thereabouts). Usually Bukh or Yanmar inboard diesel. Considered by some a motor-saile, I think. Unusual, possibly very sensible(?), layout. Heads is central, right forward and facing aft. I think there were berths either side, possibly table one side.

According to Hoskyn's Yacht Directory:
"Distinctive medium/heavy displacement cruiser with built up topsides giving useful accommodation but modest headroom. A substantial Cornish built boat from early 70's.
LOA 20' 1"
Beam 7' 10"
Draught 2' (long keel, plus two bilge plates)"

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. We bought ours because we liked her looks and was impressed by the many articles in the yachting media praising her seaworthiness and ease of handling.

Due my recent disability, we are forced to sell ours now but I leap to the defence in saying she's a good little ship for anyone wanting a safe, comfortable, and roomy boat for offshore and inshore cruising. With her 2' draught, she really comes into her own when nosing up into shallow waters and her bilge keels make her perfect for drying out moorings or even for running her up onto a beach for careening.

All in all, she's a tough and very pleasing little boat that can be operated on the smell of an oil rag. Unless you are a boy racer, what more do you need - unless you are trying to impress someone with your obvious wealth?

Regards

Mike
