Sea trial done - we have a winner

Shane - no problem with questions. Not had too many issues with ours thankfully.
All the best.
Mike

Which engines have you got? We have D6-330s. Very smooth yesterday and not very noisy.

The plan is to take ownership on 4 Aug! We won't be hanging around though as we will be heading straight back to BSM.

Glad to hear that all the stars are aligning in your purchasing process, congratulations! :encouragement:

Makes me rather envious, since after an initial offer at the end of Feb I have yet to start my delivery journey.
Ok, it was somewhat planned (aside from some delays), but still... :ambivalence:

Added them using the YBW linked picture. Very clunky and limited in size.

Thx I,am mostly I pad these days so need to figure out how to coverts pictures into a URL mode ?

Any how back to boats D6 310 and 330 ,s PeteM these are the ones to go for ---sans superchargers in a recent sterndrive boat .
I think everybody just accepts new steering rams as a semi comsumable 2-3 yearly change out these days .
I had a test drive ( no deposit walk away job ) in a Superhawk 43 a few years back ,they were very quiet and a bit smoother than my Kad 300 ,s .Almost silent @ tick over engine wise .Layout of the boat re sun pads of all things did not work for us btw.Plenty more grunt over similar Kg d Portofino 35 with Kads .

There's enough torque low down to hole shot it sans superchargers .

I note the 370 variant has a supercharger bolted on ,not sure of the IPS versions -real Hp not equivalent talked up .

So you should if it blows up be abe to Nav at any speed not worrying about excessive stick on the superchargers

When you post a message you get the option to 'Go Advanced' click on that, go to manage attachments, up load a photo, select it and then it will appear as a thumb nail. Like I said - it's clunky and you can only store 10MB of photos.

High power output D range has supercharger on stern and IPS model, shaft drive version tend not to have the SC unless it's the 435 version .

We have same D6 330. All good so far other than the usual Volvo stuff (consumable steering rams). Have also replaced one exhaust elbow and the gear shift cables. Good engines though on this size boat. Have you got the extended bathing platform version ?
M

No we have the standard bathing platform. The only extended ones I could find were in Italy (Naples) one had Cummins engines and the other we didn't have a good feel about. Maybe I could do a Jimmy the Builder and retrofit one!

Our steering rams were replaced last week as part of the prepurchase rectification and servicing so hopefully they will last a couple of years.

We got 33 kts on the sea trial with 6 pax, full fuel and 50% water. The owners had heaps of stuff on so I was happy with that.

What have you found to be your best cruising speed and any trimming tips? We have tabs as well as the engines.

Shane.

We normally cruise at 21 to 24 knots as comfortable and economic, although anything up to 27 knots is not too bad. Over that gets expensive on fuel consumption ! Trimming, she runs really well with little need to trim. Tabs to assist getting on plane (we have extended platform and a tender perched right at the back though !). Then just use tabs for port/stbd trim and trim the legs to about zero. Runs really level and good in most seas.

Thanks. Our delivery trip is just over 40nm from Saint Raphael to Beaulieu sur Mer. I am planning on a morning departure and bending via Illes de Lerins as a half way point for a swim and maybe lunch. We might be better off just running quickly to Beaulieu as my storeage area in our apartment is full of boat stuff and I need to clear it out.
