Coming out of Lymington this Sunday just after getting up to speed the alarms sounded the port engine was over heating.

I popped down to look at the pre filters (although Volvo in their wisdom put them after the impellor?) only to find lots of very fine weed which when removed did not solve the problem. Therefore we dropped anchor a mile or so of Lymington with a bit of a blow didn’t really fancy stripping it all down myself with only myself & SWMBO onboard. So decided to make use of our Sea Start membership, what a fantastic service!!

Within 40 minutes a black & yellow Sea Start rib was along side us stripping down to try & clear the blockage but to no avail as looked as if it was blocked from the outdrive. No problem off he went to Lymington to collect a diver who promptly jumped overboard in a rather strong tide cleared the said blockage. They duly then departed to go and assist yet another blockage near by.

A big thanks you to Sea start for their professional, prompt and excellent service.

Good service indeed.

But wondering why you didn't go back to Lymington on the starboard?

Power-steering out, breezy day, unknown how much muck had also been sucked into the other engine and possibly having to follow a ferry in again stirring up more word shît....

I'd have done the same as Tim :)

Yup, I'll second that. We first joined Sea Start in 1991. In fact I think we were one of their first members and we used them regularly until we moved to the Med in 2003. Last year I rejoined as I bought a RIB in the UK and they jump started my engine on a couple of occasions. Excellent people and excellent service. Worth every penny of the membership fee IMHO
