Scuttlebutt's infamous annual x-channel cruise

Re: Scuttlebutt\'s infamous annual x-channel cruise

I'm up for it again! Went with Tom E last year but we have a bigger boat now. Hoping to take it across to Cherbourg next month so I'll reserve decision for October until I see how we get on (I might be a wimp and hitch a ride again!).

See you there!

Re: Scuttlebutt\'s infamous annual x-channel cruise

Where do set out from and what day. Is it a quick ( speaking in sailing terms) blast across and then back again or do people take long weekends? WOuld love to do it, but need plenty of notice for dates- judging from previous threads about babies on boats, I think it would be prudent to ask the grandparents if they'd like to have said baby. for the weekend. the more I think about this, the better it seems.

Re: Scuttlebutt\'s infamous annual x-channel cruise

Last year almost everybody set out sometime on Friday and left sometime on Sunday, from assorted points twixt Poole and Chi.

Re: Scuttlebutt\'s infamous annual x-channel cruise

Yes please Ken,

Self + lovely lady (or even SWMBO),

Prefer Cherbourg for the unlimited choice of arrival/departure times,

All dates OK at present,

We may have a spare double cabin, we would leave from & return to Poole, leave on Friday midday say depending on where to.

We will try and average below 8kts if the drogue can stand the loading.

Re:Anyone need a crewman?

I would very much like to go if someone needs or can squeeze in an extra crew. All my own teeth and YM offshore etc.

Strong preference for weekend 25 th Sept due to work commitments.(Other dates could be possible though.)

Re: Scuttlebutt\'s infamous annual x-channel cruise

Put me down again, will probably have one or 2 spare berths. Not sure of dates yet. What's the betting we'll have to motor this year!

Re: Scuttlebutt\'s infamous annual x-channel cruise

Sounds like fun. Don't take this personally but 2/3 of your RTIR crew has emigrated!

Mike should be in an A&E department in Sydney and PJ will be doing A&E in Melbourne.

Re: Scuttlebutt\'s infamous annual x-channel cruise

Any one want me as crew - must be a boat with a lid, at least 40ft and with twin 400HPs. Promise I won't lower the tone again - honest guv

Re: Scuttlebutt\'s infamous annual x-channel cruise

Yup .. Castaway is up for it...Will check with Mr Knotgood to see if he is available.. if not should have space for 2 or 3 crew ... one less if he signs up, (in the interests of comfort).

Will have to co-ordinate with "The Company" to get leave, but should be OK.

September is better that October for me, simply due to daylight hours and more settled weather.

All best Nick.

Re: Scuttlebutt\'s infamous annual x-channel cruise

I would love to come along - as crew, please, if it turns out to be 25th Sept (can't do other dates)

Re: Scuttlebutt\'s infamous annual x-channel cruise

Definitely up for it.

Strangely, as crew. Anyone want ageing racer who can do anything, and will want to get you there first?

<hr width=100% size=1>my opinion is complete rubbish, probably.

Re: Scuttlebutt\'s infamous annual x-channel cruise
