Scuttlebutt Falmouth to Brest / Crozon / Duarnenez cruise - July 2015

Interested, but would have to be school hols. Never done a channel x-ing in my little boat....
SWMBO needs selling on the idea.

My thoughts were that you could sail over with me, and your missus and my missus could take Aurora over on the ferry and meet us there. :)

May well be over there already, as, if we follow this and last year's ininerary, we would be on our way back by end June/early July. Only 'cause we're pressed into giving the garden a chance to stay under control by SWMBO. I'd have stayed much longer this year given the chance.

Next year plans not started but this could be another reason to keep on going to Brittany (instead of the much talked about, never done anything about it trip to Holland)

I bought charts today. C10 and C36. It looks a long way.
Leave at HW, head due south, 24 hours later make sure you are the west side of La Four light and the east side of Ushant, then hang on for a fast ride thru Chenal, and turn left at the end after the cathedral like light house.

Of course that is a gross over simplification and asssumes fair winds.

32 hours should get you from Mylor to drinking your first Pastis. ;)

Or about 10 minutes if you have a bottle on board

Did I hear you say Camaret and a mass meal at one of the excellent sea food restaurants?

It is possible to get a chunk of the outer marina "reserved".

Saw your post so I just had a word with Gaelle who runs the capitainerie in camaret. She reckons no problem if you give them a few days notice.
Her email is Capitainerie.camaret@wanadoo.fr
She speaks basic English so should understand your request.

I renewed mine today with GJW. No additional cost from UK coastal to include Brest to Elbe and Brest to la Rochelle although a slight increase in the excess when south of Brest.

That sounds interesting, planning on family holiday south Brittany again next year so Camaret a great base camp. Let Brittany ferrires take the strain thereafter to maximise the time on the beautiful south coast and its islands. End of July probably works best for me but earlier could work???

SWMBO has had to book her holidays from work today, and the new regime where she works has removed some of the flexibility of previous years. I need to be over there for 4th/5th July. That puts us in term time.

So, according to Red's list of neaps, the 23rd - 28th June is the best window for me.

KevO is down in Cornwall 10th Jan and wants to have a beer and a natter and a beer, and another beer for luck, so how about a bit of a social to compare diaries etc... for this.

I have just looked at the tide tables and May half term (sat 23rd) is also the start of a neaps period - am just pondering that as a date as I don't have any kids that week.

So whose up for a beer sat 10th Jan - Falmouth Marina bar or how about the Punchbowl and Ladle near Feock?
