Scuttlebutt Falmouth?/Fowey?/Plymouth? weekend - Spring

I don't want anyone to think that there's any organising going on here, but I have written to Fowey Gallants about the date in question, and await a response.

If they can do it, then Fowey harbour could reserve a pontoon for us.
Just have to hope the wind is not southerly...can be very rolly in the harbour and not enough room for everyone at Mixtow.
But Fowey will be a great venue for the event.:)

Latest: Weekend of Friday 6th, Saturday 7th June, 2014. Neaps. Saturday night on Fowey.

Having not been involved with the organisation, in any way, shape or form, the Scuttlebutt Poole Cruise for the last couple of times, I'm not going to organise this either. However, it would be interesting to know how many in the South West might be interested in a long weekend potter, meet up for a few beers, a BBQ, or whatever. I've already loosely discussed with KevO, dylan and Comrade Red, so if you fancy doing something next Spring post below, and I'll add your names. Feel free to make suggestions on where to meet/go/drink/anchor/eat.

Anything that happens won't have been organised, and therefore no-one can be held responsible for anything which may or may not happen on, or about, the days when we may, or may not, meet up, accidentally. If you happen to meet other forumites in a particular location you'll be doing so entirely at your own risk. Blah, blah, blah.

Mmmmm, that sounds interesting. May have to sail in company if allowed! ;)

Still relatively unlikely that we'll be going. Forcing the midpoint of a cruise to be a weekend (which I'm not complaining about, it obviously makes sense for the locals this is aimed at) increases the number of days' leave required until it starts to become "the main holiday". And I have friends who are quite keen to reach the Channel Islands next spring, having been thwarted by the weather this year, so that's the priority.

But never say never.

Pete

If I go, I'll be sailing from Southampton to Fowey.

Slightly faster boat than Live Magic, I will admit :)

Pete

If it's a race you want I'll be on mums boat heading up from Falmouth. 130HP and 26kt :D I'm even thinking of nicking that to do the CIs at some point because then I wouldn't have the weather window problems which the gods throw at me every time I try to get there!

I should have asked people sooner, but can you please let me know the length of your ship, and how many people, roughly, will expect to sit down to eat on Saturday?

you better ask this closer to the time (a month's notice?)...

Tigger is 35ft, but I have no idea yet if and how many may be able to make it on that day

I think that we would love to be there but as we go off for our Summer cruise about end of April, early May, we won't be back - hoping to be gone for 10-15 weeks.

But if life has taken an alternative view, you can count us and "Early Mist" (Jeanneau SO 33i) as being 'likely'

Time will tell.

We were in Fowey recently and it was VERY empty. Seems the season is over already.

34 feet and two or three - if we come. But I'm curious why anyone wants to know lengths in Fowey - it's not as if they're sorting out marina berths.

It's so I can give them a flavour of what to expect. They are going to plan berthing with the Harbour office to make sure they have enough space for us all. We're currently 20 boats, and most are 34' or more. One bloke is coming in a block of flats!

To think when I joined MYC 27 foot was the upper end of average.
