Scuttlebutt Clyde Cruise - September

Sorry for the late contribution to the thread! I thought Geoff (CTB) was on the case. Escapaders are planning to go on Friday night to the slip on Cumbrae. We'll be bringing a guest who has been along before - The Great Roberto!!! - Quite a handy guitar player and an amazing ability to perform hypnosis and card tricks while being ejected from the bar at closing time!!! Sadly we can't make tarbert due to another social commitment. See you tomorrow.

Work and weather both seem favourable, so Mistral would hope to be at Cumbrae tonight, Friday, with 2 PoB.

Mrs Ash is working until very late afternoon, so I will single hand down from Kip, and she will join me courtesy of CalMac. She would hope to be at Cumbrae by about 19.00 hrs. We'll eat on board, Spag Bol, I think is on the menu, and then we'll see you at the bar if not before.

I think that we'll give Tarbert a miss. I have an early start on Monday, and need to get organised so home earlyish on Sunday.

Nice meeting one or two of you on Saturday in Tarbert. Great night was had by all I think and we had a great sail back to Largs via Garroch head and the Cumbraes today.

I took some video film of a catamaran we were sailing alongside approaching Tarbert. It was a Hirondell I think but I'm not sure. Couldn't spot it on the pontoons. If anyone knows them pass on a contact and I will send them a copy.

Yes good meeting you and your crew again Ewan and thanks for that great cup of tea and a somwhat interesting chat! at 0230 sun morn.
Enjoyed Gordon Mc Arthur's company too, also good catching up with Bob and Errica on Hummingbird.
Wk end was fantastic, bit knackered now though.
HB going up river this wk for winter:(.

We had 3 boats and 10 people at Cumbrae on Friday night. We were all a bit slow in hitting the bar, but once we did, we had a great evening just chatting ( and drinking ) Thanks to all for the excellent company.

Indeed we had a good evening. Our completely unsuspecting guests enjoyed themselves aa well. Decided not to head for Tarbert on Saturday - dreich weather, and a long haul back on Sunday. So, we decided to explore Cumbrae on Saturday. But for me, the best bit has always been the meet on Friday evening.

I am sorry to have missed the Cumbrae sesh, but heading for Tarbert on Friday meant I avoided the drama of rafting single-handed as would be the case on Saturday.
Eamon as usual was fine company and the bands were excellent. The Tarbert Hotel on Saturday afternoon was the place to be with the Lush Puppies in the back and a ceilidhe in the family room. Where are the pics, Eamon?
Unlike previous years the weather was benign and mild. On the Sunday I was being overtaken on the normal single-hand rig of genoa and mizzen and plucked up enough courage to leave the help and get the main up. A fine sail down Loch Fyne, a jibe round Ardlamont and up the West Kyle to Kames for beers (when will they have real ale in Tarbert?).
Overnight at Colintraive to meet up with friends and I was back on the mooring Monday.
Overall the festival was quieter than previous years, partly because the Vic is closed, and there was no fish-quay gig. It didn't seem to dull the atmosphere in the Frigate/Counting House/Tarbert Hotel, though.
When is the next one?
