I am going to contact Cumbraes Watersports Centre about the Friday(18/09/09) night to ensure that they have arranged for the bar to be open, so an idea of numbers would be useful.
If you are hoping to be there, please let me know so that I can make arrangements. If there are sufficient numbers I will probably contact Tarbert as well to see if we can get a block mooring, and possibly discount.
Thanks,
Pete

Well OK - perhaps 'final call' is a bit harsh - the actual final call will be Sunday afternoon! It would be nice to have some idea of numbers though just so I can sort out the two venues.

Confession - I got my weekends wrong. I thought it was a fortnight to this cruise when in fact it is nearly 3 weeks - woops.
Anyway, so far we have
Friday Night:
AntarcticPilot
Spyro
Clyde_Wanderer
Tommcrorie
Sahona
Saturday Night:
As abover less Sahona but with Aquaplane
Sunday Lunch:
Any of the above.

It should be interesting seeing a Claymore and a Halberdier moored near each other.

Any more for any more?

Add Flap to the list.
For purposes of booking I will be at Cumbrae for the quiz. I have Spyro's phone number, so if the weather is unkind and I head for Tarbert direct I will let him know.

You are almost guaranteed a windless night at Cumbrae pontoon (well of the type the weather brings) as I will not be able to bring Miss Sable along!

Sucttlebutt CWC Weekend.

Hi Pete & Co,

CWC for the Friday and then its over to Largs for the Saturday as it's our clubs (TCC) final muster.
I'll PM Pete C with my mobile number so that if I arrive before any of you "big boys" you can give me a phone and I'll move off then raft up....if needed.
Is it compulsory to bring an musical instrument?
May the weather god be kind...it's only my wife's second season and out in nothing more that a 6.....a little concerned but not put off.

Clayless v Halberdier

Bilgy Bill,

The really important thing in a boat is one heads for the captain and one for the crew. Especially as my bladder can't wait these days and certainly after a late nite's boozing at the Scuttlebutt.

Forget engine cc or boat dimensions - when your bladder is weak you need one toilet reserved for the skipper's needs !!

BTW Pete, I've been forced into bringing my good lady with me again :-]

Clyde Wanderer's quiet period

Maybe eamonn has started his new course learning about how to look after all those needy people he meets on boys weekends !!

Eamonn, Here's the words to you favourite song and Spyro you'll find the guitar chords there as well !! I'm not saying that you chaps got the words or the chords wrong the last time but now we can all join in on the 18th.

As I roved by the dockside one evening so fair
To view the salt waters and take in the salt air
I heard an old fisherman singing a song
Oh, take me away boys me time is not long

Wrap me up in me oilskin and blankets
No more on the docks I'll be seen
Just tell me old shipmates, I'm taking a trip mates
And I'll see you someday on Fiddlers Green

Now Fiddler's Green is a place I've heard tell
Where the fishermen go if they don't go to hell
Where the weather is fair and the dolphins do play
And the cold coast of Greenland is far, far away

Now when you're in dock and the long trip is through
There's pubs and there's clubs and there's lassies there too
And the girls are all pretty and the beer is all free
And there's bottles of rum growing on every tree.

Where the skies are all clear and there's never a gail
And the fish jump on board with one swish on their tail
Where you lie at your leisure, there's no work to do
And the skipper's below making tea for the crew

Now I don't want a harp nor a halo, not me
Just give me a breeze and a good rolling sea
I'll play me old squeeze-box as we sail along
With the wind in the riggin to sing me a song

KEY D (Capo 2nd fret) Play the following shape chords.

verse:
C F G G
G F C G
F G C
C F C G7

chorus:
C G C
F G
F
C
C F G C

Has anybody heard from Clyde_Wanderer recently? - he seems to have instigated this and now he's gone all quiet.

Was speaking to Clyde Wanderer and he has just started college as a mature student today so has been up to the eyes in preparation work, getting the school satchel polished, binding his books in floral wallpaper and sorting out his best colouring pens! I am sure once he has got into the swing of the student parties he will be back on to tell you all about his new departure.

It is a brave move and I wish him well, I think he has the 'life knowledge' to make a success of his new career path and wish him well.

He hopes to get to the Scuttlebutt Cruise but will depend on the weather and the homework, you don't think his missus is letting him off with that!!

Ian,

That's the same chords I can play on the squeezebox so we'll be a good match even if we can't accompany anybody !!

Maybe I'll bring the mouthorgan again - I think I played that OK or maybe it was the booze making me think so !!

I was impressed but there again maybe that was the booze making me think so. :D
