Hi
We're looking for someone for a feature in PBO who uses a sweep to move their boat under their own steam. It can be anything from a corribee to a Bavaria! So does anyone know of anyone who still uses the lost art of sculling?

Sculling....

Yarmouth carnival has sculling races - a sight to behold for sure.
If you want to see the experts do it you need to be there August Bank Holiday Saturday...

Ask the Coastguard on Bute.

Ask the very helpful Coastguard chap on Bute (sorry don’t know his name), he can make anything go in any direction from any angle with one oar….. absolutely amazing (well I was very impressed).

We have a 16' steel mooring barge with twin sculling notches at both ends for extra power!

Sculling is still very common here for tenders and large dinghies.

Both my husband and the best man at our wedding scull as do some of the thames barge skippers. HWMBO sculls most years in the boxing day Maldon rowing race uselly just him and one of the barge skippers although he was the only entrant,. He is threatening to put a crutch on our 23ft McGruir yacht and scull her round to the Blackwater club from our current moorings for a major refit.

Well you could definitely scull Tonijon

If you need someone to scull I can do it for you. Last yacht I sculled was an Arpege with the original oar on board. You supply a boat I will scull it for you.

A JBS mast - there's posh! I have a wonderful scarfed repair to my tiller from him - repair is better than the original. Has Phil still got the photos; don't think I every sent them to him electronically if you want them....

Sorry bit of Fred Drift
