Hello I`m in Dover,on my way to Queenborough via The Swale and Faversham. Does anyone know anywhere I can lean against a wall for a tide,as the barnacles on my prop and rudder are causing lots of vibration. Draw 1.25m It`s too inaccessible to do it properly with a wire brush on a broomstick etc.
I could physically lean against the wall in Ramsgate,on the beach inside the harbour near the wind boats, but the person I asked said no,possibly a bad hair day or I asked the wrong guy.Don`t want to pay 100 bucks for a lift`n`hold, just for a 10 min job.
Mucho appreciado for any suggestions.Cheers Jerry

I regularly use one of the walls in Ramsgate. Not sure if we are talking about the same place - I go in front of the museum/clocktower. Go at HW, and moor up with your bows at the ladder if you have a choice. Bottom is a little sticky in places, but largely sandy (assuming no shopping trolleys!).

The other place is behind the newer of the pontoons - ie turn lft at the fuel pontoon, and go to the wall on the far side with the concrete stairs (think) up. Have never used this one, but gather it has power and water available if you want it.

There is also supposed to be somewhere to scrub off in Dover - on the left as you leave the marina areas. I have not been able to see what it is like from the shore so have never tried it.

There is a very nice flat concrete scrubbing platform actually at Queenborough, in the creek and next to the harbour master's office. If you phone him he could book it for you.

Thanks. For info,I`m there now..it`s a drying patch of beach outside the marina, but they won`t let me lean up against the wall,so bilge keelers etc only apparently, cheers.

If you're still in Dover on Sunday, drop by for a beer, clue is in the forum name, Granville Dock.

In Ramsgate..
Turn left towards the fuel pontoon.. leave it to Stb
then turn right past the Lifeboat station so the lifeboat is to your right

You are now looking at the shower block and there are a couple of old sluces on the wall underneath..
Look to the left of the wall... there is a staircase to the left

pull up to the wall facing the steps port side to.. get the bow close to the steps..
there are bollards on the top which you can pull aganst to make sure the boat leans aganst the wall.. the steps make it easy to get up and down.. and it is more shelted than the beach behind the fishing boats..
once you ground... go up to the RTYC for a jar,,, they are very welcoming to visiting yachtsmen..
Used to sail from there so know it well....
