Screwfix 130bar pressure washer

Any good - it's discounted to £65 or should I go up market?

I think you may find that the flowrate is not high enough to give a decent sized fan of water. That is my experience with a pressure washer with a similar flow rate. Although this one is a somewhat higher pressure it may not help much.

If I were you I'd look for one with a greater litres /hour figure, unless you only want it for little jobs.

Lakesailor, when he was around, used to say pretty much the same thing.

Wouldn't waste £65 on it. No parts available for Titan, Erbauer, etc products from Screwfix at the time when you need to replace a part a few years down the line.
Karcher domestic units are not as good as you may think either, if buying a P/W, always buy a commercial type if you are using it on a regular basis.
Best tip I can give is NEVER leave the pump head anywhere where it can freeze (garage, shed, etc) as the head WILL crack if the water within freezes. Try and drain as much water from the head, pump and hoses when storing, it does preserve these parts.
I have a 30 year old Karcher Commercial unit which works as well today as it did when I bought it, albeit a bit battered, bruised and externally worse for wear! I bought a Bosch Aquatak to replace it with and I gave the Bosch away after 6 mths and went back to the Karcher, it had much more pressure and outperformed the Bosch.

I have had a couple of Karchers in the past and will never buy one again. Build quality is no longer there and they are trading on the name and not the quality. It is the usual story of only getting what you pay for. So I chose this one -
Atom Standard 9/150, 240V Mac International An amazing performance and with a build quality that will see me out.

The Atom Standard is far too industrial for my needs and costs over £500! There must be something worthwhile between that and the Screwfix cheapie. What actually is wrong with Karchers?

My Karcher has developed a split hose or union inside the casing. There is absolutely no way to get this casing apart without breaking it, as the bolts used appear to be security-type one-time use only. There does not seem to be a tool that will remove them easily. It is designed to be impossible to service. Therefore, for want of a 20p piece of hose, or a tightened union, I have to go and buy a new pressure washer.

I've taken it to a large commercial workshop and tool supplier. They tried every possible tool but nothing would engage to undo the bolts.

THAT'S why I won't be buying another Karcher.

Mine failed without warning, and on checking the internet for ideas about how to repair it, it seems that the pump valves are made of plastic and eventually simply disintegrate. Apparently you can replace the valves at a reasonable cost, but I haven't got round to it. I doubt I would buy another Karcher.

Lidl had them in last week, they are quite powerful, and priced at £79 I think. They have a flow rate of 450 ltrs/hr and a 2.2kw pump I think. You may be able to find one left in one of their shops. I saw one the other day.

My Karcher broke last week and I was told by my local dealer that I would need to stretch to a K5 in order to get a good quality unit. These are £200+ and I read on a couple of car detailing forums that Nilfisk are a much better quality brand. Found a Nilfisk E 140.3-9 on Amazon for £170 (brand new with warranty).
