Well why don't you do your bit for , well whatever , and do something to make the pontoon safer , cannae be that difficult , I am sure it would be appreciated by the “ natives “ NiCe that the small boat rushed out to meet you , to relieve you of your pounds rather than wait for you to Distribute as you saw fit .
c' mon now Dunedin , i am sure that you could have managed to coble up something a bit more realistic than a bit of string or a keel bolt as someone , ( not you ) has suggested, i thot perhaps that the small boat was offering some haggis in return for some beads and a bit of broken mirror , perhaps things have moved on .I do like to keep a decent bosun’s box of bits on board, but as Quandary suggests, I don’t carry spare pontoon bolts and the correct size of rubber spacers. Adding another bit of string would not have helped. I would have reported it to the harbour master’s office (and toilet block), but it is abandoned in a yard somewhere a mile inland. I do know that the local boat owners are aware, so assume it has been reported.
And the small boat that came out at Muck was not asking for any money, just having a friendly natter
Neither do I carry a 20m marina link-span in my bosun’s box, so would not have been able to connect the Tarbert Harris pontoon to the shore either. When I passed that way the main pontoon was sitting with no boats, and no means ashore (other than dinghy)
No pontoon at Tarbert for 6 weeks according to CMAL.Neither do I carry a 20m marina link-span in my bosun’s box, so would not have been able to connect the Tarbert Harris pontoon to the shore either.
