Re: ah but look

all i did was bet jimi at 40 - not the rest of youse. I mean, you. Oh heck. I mean, if I say I'll buy jimi a pint, for example, you can't all nip in as well can you? Unless ...you're all called jimi? damn! I wonder if I can be saved by the forum terms and conditions here?

Re: Deep fried Marcaroni in batter

i think the exact translation of alba is
'Dane feckin go there'
Hadrian had the right idea.

Re: rien ne va plus

Perhaps I can help cloud (I mean clarify) the issue -

Jimi bet TCM £5 that England will not win by 40 pints (oops) points

ccscott bet TCM £5 that England will not win by 25 points (TCM counter-offered before accepting so 40 points not binding)

H00 bet TCM £5 that England will not win by 25 points (same as above)

Sailbad offered £10 on England winning by 25 points (converse bet to the others) but TCM should take it as will cover ccscott's and H00's winnings if he loses those

Claymore asked for a "dibble" (isn't that a gardening implement) and TCM accepted £5 on 25 points margin but which way? Spoilt betting slip?

I'll take a tenner on sailbad's offer of 3:1 on Scotland scoring the first try (seems too good to be true or he's a very optimistic Jock) and I'll take more of the same if anybody else wants to offer it.

Betting contracts are of course unenforceable - or binding in honour only - so it'll be interesting to see who pays up?

short pencils queue here

"Jimi bet TCM £5 that England will not win by 40 pints (oops) points" is solid. (which I will pay tho i somehow fancy it may double or quits on some poxy sailing race in May)

"ccscott bet TCM £5 that England will not win by 25 points (TCM counter-offered before accepting so 40 points not binding)"...ccscot yet to respond agreing the shorter margin - BUT i am away from screens from 4pm today Friday!

"H00 bet TCM £5 that England will not win by 25 points (same as above)" - again, needs confirming BEFORE 4pm today.

"Sailbad offered £10 on England winning by 25 points (converse bet to the others) but TCM should take it as will cover ccscott's and H00's winnings if he loses those. " Nope, bet not accepted as it will wipe out near-certain winnings.

"Claymore asked for a "dibble" (isn't that a gardening implement) and TCM accepted £5 on 25 points margin but which way? Spoilt betting slip?" Claymore is obviously backing the celts BUT needs to post agreement before 4pm. Note a "dibble" is not a "dibber", but a scottish-weather-style wet and soggy "flutter".

"I'll take a tenner on sailbad's offer of 3:1 on Scotland scoring the first try (seems too good to be true or he's a very optimistic Jock) and I'll take more of the same if anybody else wants to offer it." Over to Honest Max.

"Betting contracts are of course unenforceable - or binding in honour only - so it'll be interesting to see who pays up?" - True, the last bet on these forums was between Learner and Coliholic, ostensibly for a shilling, which was not so clearly umpired, so never materialised BUT the ominous result is that neither of them has a boat at the moment. So, a worrying portent for anyone planning to scotch on the bet. I mean, welsh.

Or: "dibble" = (Inspector) Dibble = T(op)C(at)(M). Therefore a reference to m'learned colleague's well known betting forum emporium.

Reckon you've made a book then do you?

Re: short pencils queue here

Claymore registers his dibble before 4:00 p.m. so is set to enlarge his wedge considerably and will soon be holding the folding. The very pleasantest of prospects.
