Wife says an electric scooter would be a good idea...I agree!
Having just cleared out all my old mags I remember only a few months ago an excellent test on elec scooters
What mag and month was it? (I can probably pick up a back copy at the boat show)
What was the best one?

A pal of mine imports the folding ones. 12 volt and can easily carry me (a fat git) I've bought loads as Christmas presents, they are excellent. We used them last year around the marina at Poole and for going into town.

I think they retail at about £125 but he lets me have them at trade which is £69.

PM me if you want some details' I think there is a website where you can check the spec.

Try www.goped.com. They seem to be the major brand. Don't know much about the leccie ones, but would have thought bnattery power\duration could be a probnlem, then you've got to charge them each time you use 'em and when you get them out first time back on the boat, the lead will have goine missing or your main batteries aren't up to charging 'em or there's no shorepower etc.

Have driven tcm's petrol ones in SofF and Italy and they're brilliant fun. About 20 mph and go forever on a tank of 2 stroke and when you get to a restaurant or wherever you're going, just fold 'em up and carry 'em with you. Not heavy either. If I were thinking of buying one, would definitely only consider the petrol ones.

Though not sure of the legality of 'em in the UK. Do you need a licence here and could you be done for drinking and driving on one of them?

Re: goped Scooters

yes, these are now proven to be able to haul huge weights. The best type (as driv by coliholicand b1 areGped Liquimatic with auto clutch. The sports type are cheaper, no clutch, as tiny bit faster off the line.

To clarify, these totally illeagl on UK roads. Bloke got done whilst banned fr driving one on a public road whilst banned. France and Ital, no problem

Petrol ones a great hoot and seeing me managing to stay on one should be testament enough to both their robustness and stability !
Just one point Cutey.....if you remember....the waiter geezer in that posh retaurant in Livorno wouldnt let us teke em in...made us leave em outside.....miserable git!

Re: Noisy??

Well a bit like a mosquito on steroids, so yes a bit. But the noise is half the fun, people can hear you coming a mile away (cue double entendre from Byron or Pauline), and will no doubt make helpful comments about you, but then you can't hear 'em because of the noise.
