Scoot - gone bust

i feel sorry for all the people they employed. horrible at this time of year. It did seem to be a good service but was always going to be difficult with a 12 person capacity operation and a lot of public opposition locally (in Lymington at least)

I hear they are looking for a buyer as a going concern but dont hold out too much hope. Unfortunately at least one of the people behind this operation has form for closing down and abandoning its employees... http://worldmaritimenews.com/archiv...rs-left-high-and-dry-as-goagt-goes-insolvent/

Believe a lot of the opposition is against one of the persons behind the venture rather than the service itself.

It is alleged that companies run by this person had closed several times previously owning money and leaving many people without jobs and out of pocket locally.

i didn't get to try the service myself but from what i see on social media they had a lot of followers and it will be missed i suspect. a challenger to the current two providers is good but with a 12 person capacity the available revenue per crossing is seriously limited.

There was a lot of support for it locally as a ferry service, on the IW at least, and it wasn't local financing that pulled out - locals probably knew him too well to put money in. You can draw your own conclusions about the reasons for him removing himself as a director and allowing someone close but with a different surname to take over back in July.

It isn't just alleged that companies run by him closed owing money. I could list you about 10 companies that he was involved in or director of that were dissolved owing money, not just locally but internationally, when GoAGT went - I'm still owed for two months work by one of them and I had pre paid two full price tickets to Portsmouth the evening of the day Scoot went bust.
