I'm told it is possible to buy a top for the tank with a Schrader valve. Does anyone know where?

Nope, but even performing at its best I'm convinced it is less efficient than a good bike pump..... and ... if I had such a valve I'd carry a CO2 bike inflation kit and pump the tank with zero effort.Don't know, are you having problems with the leather washer in the pump?

Yep. The reason I want a standard automotive tyre valve is to be able to use standard tools to pressurise. I cook serious meals on this stove. I don't understand the ten strokes a day argument. I burn three tanks of paraffin on a two week cruise, and it runs out when I have, say, a leg of lamb in the oven while thrashing to windward for an evening anchorage and meal. "No we can't tack now, I'm pumping the stove," is not a useful interjection. I assume ten pumps a day involves not running out of paraffin under sail in difficult conditions. You could fit a stainless steel washer and use a standard Tubeless tyre valve, they are just pulled through the hole on car rims.
Schrader valve is just another name for the valve used in everyday automotive tyres.
Good luck and fair winds.![]()
