Scanstrut radar support cracked! Near disaster

I have a Raymarine radar on the mast. The support is original from 2001 although the radar is newer (and lighter). I believe that the support is made by Scanstrut
I was up the mast to give it a clean and was shocked to find that the fixing to the mast was cracked and coming away


Thank goodness I found this before the whole thing came down.

Has this happened to anyone else?
Any chance that the support has a lifetime guarantee????

It's worth emailing Scanstrut with photos - in my experience they're one of the more helpful companies, and they might just find you a new mast fitting for free.

And, I assume you've checked the other fittings?

The lower fitting on the starboard side has one of three rivets that is backing out

Both fittings on the port side look OK

I am taking the radar off the mount before sailing again!

I have emailed ScanStrut and await their reply

Been looking at the Scanstrut website. The new version of the radar support comes with a safety wire kit. I will fit this when I get a new strut
Anyone with an old support would do well to fit a safety wire or even just a dyneema strop from the radar to something nearby on the mast. It might save your life!
