I am looking to purchase a scanner that can scan a front cover of a magazine as well as read the barcode on it in one go?

Does anyone know if there is one about?

Thanks

Tom

Not so much about the scanner, but more about the software...

Presume you want colour capture, 400dpi + (for the barcode) and flatbed (for bigger than A4... any need for document feeder ??

Then you can look at the Fujitsu range....

I have a "fi 4750C" amongst others (Kodak, B&H etc), and it does the job... software is ASCENT by KOFAX ... (expensive but do proper barcodes, page seperators and OCR for indexing and database population).

All depends on what you want to use it for and what kind of volumes etc.... by the way ... is the barcode in the same location on all the front covers ?? if not you need to have some way of managing the different barcode locations (batch manager or something equivialent)... Or perhaps this gets to be too techie ... send me a IM if you want to know more...

"most" in computer terms means "No consistency" then ... you will need something that can define each area at the time, or pre-determined locations.

No high volume then .... all in the Fi range can handle that...

I think £ 17K is expensive ... but there is other (non-production) software out there, which would do what you want .. but get a good quality scanner with the software you need. (will have a look out ...)
With 30 /day you will not need anything hi-tec, just something that can handle 5 A4 pages/ min ... full colour @ 400 dpi.

Where are the images going afterwards??
