Willem van Oranje [1533-1584] is the one known as the leader of the oposition during the Spanish siege, thoug it was a bunch of pirates ("Watergeuzen") who won the first battle. Also known for his campain again religious opression. But, as our national anthem says.. he was of "German blood". Still included in the top 10.

It was Willem III who maried Emma. Their daughter (Wilhelmina) was the mother of Juliana who was the mother of our curried queen Beatrix.

Hahaha.... although a typo, there is some truth in that statement. Our current Queen (Beatrix) is known to be a .. hmmm..... female dog.. oops... uhh... control freak!

Achully Mr. J Holland is pretty well known in the lowlands. Usde to have one of the few good music programs....
