sales at SBS and used boat shows

When I had a look the shaft was dancing around like waving your finger in the albert hall! anyway good luck with the sale, its a lovelly boat, the mrs wanted to have another look but they wouldnt give us the keys, did princess sell it or premier?

Am interested to see what your flat out speed is with the new d6 435hp engines.

My dream princess at the show was the 54, the best one we looked at was the manhattan 74, great!

Making an offer is always emotional for the potential buyer.

The broker should be in a position to advise the vendor of current market value & the vendor will have a figure that he will have given the broker as an indication of what he is likely to accept.

In this instance you would be unaware of the previous offers put to & rejected by the vendor, the broker may well be acting on instruction not to call unless £xxxxxx is offered.

If the vendor has an over inflated idea of current market value why did you look at his boat?, I wouldn't have thought a prospective buyer would be able to tell him it's overpriced, only his broker.

Agree that not all vendors are desparate to sell, just wishfull thinking when you're a buyer & you have found your perfect boat.
Being realistic when negotiating takes both sides, after all he's under no obligation to sell!

The boat in question was partxed its value was advised by the broker, thats where the problem lies in that it was overvalued to obtain a sale of the much larger and expensive boat, so obviously the owner thinks its worth what hes asking, the broker needs to keep the price up otherwise he will have egg on his face.

this is so true, I think in this statement is the problem for over valued prices for both used and new....

If it was part exchanged then surely the broker is selling it not the owner!

The broker does not own the boat as far as I can tell, will come to that one in a minute, im told that this boat was taken in part ex against a much larger boat, the owner of that boat could not sell it as a straight sale so he took the boat in question as part payment the price being set by the broker selling the larger boat thats how the brokers are involved in selling the one in question. Hope that makes sense.

Now I was wondering if the broker/company does own the boat and thats why it was a flat NO to my offer, as passing on a boat thats on brokerage does away with any comebacks on defects, sale of goods act, fit for purpose etc.
