Dredging work in Batson Creek and construction of new lifeboat berth and slipway are still continuing. Present opening hours of Fuel Barge are a joke - 0900 to 1230 only and just on 3 or 4 days per week. Means that this week I cant get down to fill up as HW is in the afternoon. On top of which the local garage gas-oil pump is US and date of repair is unknown. Might be forced to buy automotive diesel - aaagghh!
Weather cold & windy, 2m+ wave height with wind and tide running together.
Still nice though, think I'll stay a bit longer.

Hope the weather's going to be good!

Which days are the fuel barge open? My club is down there the bank holiday weekend and the week after. Might cause a few problems?

We'll be based out of Salcombe, nearly all are petrol boats. Lots of trips planned to Dartmouth and the like, but it's nice to be able to set off with a full tank.

If'n he brings Harry, can strap Haydn's oil drum on him, and do trips to the petrol station!!!! /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Ah you should have sed, sure he can fill up his spare tank with unleded, 45 gals, only 85p per litre (+ VAT + carriage charge + carrot allowance).

All fixed up, no trips to petrol staions needed.

Well I am sure there is petrol in Salcolmbe. Dartmouth I would think as well. You would of course know better. I dont use the stuff. At a pinch could load 45 gallon of petrol into Muckies spare tank and spray it across to you??

+ my commission of course /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Seriously as you may well know the nearset petrol in salcombe is some way up the hill. The fuel barge in Dartmouth does sell petrol, but not as cheap as mucky farter.

Yes, there's petrol in Salcombe, but Whisper said fuel barge only open 3/4 days at moment...hence question to him

Petrol in Dartmouth, Torquay etc

Longjohn already offered your services with new onboard fuel barge arrangement, though we may have to haggle over price. Bring Harry, we may need him for trips to petrol station with lots of thirsty petrol guzzling boats there /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

So. I'm a bit lost here. Mucky and Harry is setting off along Lyme Bay. armed with petrol. Meantime. Brendan and others are going the other way armed with chiropadist for harrys feet. We meet Lat 1234XYZ Long (*&^% and transfer fuel & Harry's chiropadist. No problems there!! So Far.

Yep, know Salcombe well, and that petrol station is a long way off (though the pub near it does excellent lock ins! Allegedly. and doesn't let you out as you are literally locked in. Though that was some time ago. Have to avoid the milk bottles outside the 'other' door when they let you out. and every other week have to make sure you know what is being poured from the cider pump. Mucky stuff, but lethal..I digress!)

Will be cars there, as some are trailering down, so can do petrol runs with cans if necessary, but a real pain. Much better if fuel barge open over bank holiday.

Uhhm, as a serious question, I've only ever stayed in the Bag. What are the harbour moorings like for small boats - 21' ish?

You must be lost, when has going to salcombe from Plymouth involved going into Lyme Bay?

Have you moved mucky farter so i can't find you? And why does Harry still need new feet, aftrer all this time I think the RSPCA shood no.

Well like when I found you. You arsed around whilst I came all the way fro Plymouth and wernt there. So came to look. But you were hidind round that big rock. And sculking. But we got you in the end.

Which old bag have you stayed in? /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

I've always anchored as close as possible to a pub, preferably the one by the ferry, good holding, superb beaches and convenient for town. HLB noes more about the moorings than I do, loads of them and all secure, but you may have to share.

One or two boats could always moor up alongside/behind me, has been done before with no probs.

OK, you got it!!

Could do with a Mucky Farter type refuelling barge half way across Lyme Bay, and avoid me and Jon Bailey having to stop at Weymouth to refuel with petrol, it would cut bleedin hours of the trip!!.. Weymouth has no petrol in harbour. Have to go into weymouth marina, pay to stop there, then get loads of cans and a trolley and go to local petrol station. Local council by law, the bleedin idiots
