A guy I know threw a perfectly serviceable one away.I was apalled.Humph - proper Sailor Wirelesses have a great clunking dial to set the channel number. MIne still works and there is a post it note on the back with Singor Marconi's phone number for servicing.

I'm having second thoughts .Everybody is telling me to kep it.The reason I got the SH is that with AIS a DSC set is convenient. The clarity of sound of the Sailor is vastly superior to the SH radio.Sailor are the best RT's ever made. If I were you I would re-install it and punt the newer one onto ebay. (just my opinion). If you must sell it I have seen them go for a couple of hundred online.

Hang on to it for a while; you may want to re-install it.
Definitely keep it and reinstall it. No better VHF made. It might be upgradable to DSC.
They're not fetching the high prices people think.I'll keep it for now because if my SH VHf breaks down I'll have a back up.I've had such a bad experience with my old(now binned) RD68 that I became a little paranoid.Well, personally I'd rather have a decent new Standard Horizon, properly installed with a good quality aerial - which is what I've got. I don't believe that radio or signal-processing technology has taken a backwards step since the old cast-iron Sailors were designed - some cheaper brands might perhaps cut corners for the sake of cost but I don't put Yaesu (aka SH) in that category.
Good for you that nostalgia has apparently kept demand and hence prices up, though
