sailing Videos by Christian Williams

Hmmm they are very well crafted productions for YouTube and much effort must go into their creation but I have one problem with the style. They are demanding to watch because every sentence seems overloaded with worthy or profound obervation and I feel I cannot relax else I risk missing something important. It is a bit like damanding poetry and the reason I stopped listening to Alastair Cooks letter from America on the BBC i.e. miss half a sentence 2 minutes into the broadcast and the final deep thought in the wrapup sentence 20 minutes later made no sense.

Much prefer Dylan's periods of contemplative silence where the video footage does the talking.

Millar is a master. Though at times he seems a bit angst ridden about rural France, he may be right, no one knew it better, I think he had some torrid times with the French Resistance.

I like Isabel and the The Sea, better, although that has it's dark side as well. See what you think.

Different styles have their place:

There is video illustrated prose which is the category the YouTube videos linked to in this thread fall into.
Then there is dialogue annotated video.
And finally we now have immersive experience, multi angle, polyphonic video delievered via GoPro headcams.

I like them all. Swmbo and I increasingly abandon scheduled TV viewing and try potluck YouTube sailing material. Narrowcasting... coming to a living room near you.

we wtahc much less live tv now we can watch on the telly

the problem with the films you tube offers on a pot luck basis seem to include a large number of films with a bikini girl on a foredeck

a bit embarrasing to watch in mixed company

what have you enjoted?
