Sailing Trousers

I think any man wearing jeans over the age of 35 look awful they never seem to fit properly ,especially around the Arse and never seem to stay up properly .....Obviously designed and cut for the younger body :) ASDA finest non jeans for me when sailing quick drying and dare I say it quite stylish for the more mature ......or am I disallusioned ?

I like cut offs so that there's no material flapping around my ankles, catching on things and getting wet on the slipway or in the tender. My wife usually converts shabby, partly worn trousers to a mid-calf length using a pair of scissors.

If you're anywhere near a Decathlon, they do some great cheap walking trousers for men & women that work very well on boats. Mine even have zipped pockets, which is handy.

Craghoppers walking trousers with a knee pocket. Zip-off legs optional. Zipped off legs only when the thermometer gets above 30.

I've got several pairs from almost new, good enough to go to the pub to the ones I wear for painting and scraping barnacles. They seem to move down the scale every time I think it's just a quick job, I can't be bothered to get changed

Toolstation's cheapest pair of work trousers are very good. Knee pad pockets are for me the most important feature, plus they're very hard-wearing, have a few zipped pockets and cost just £12.

+1 though I carry far too much clutter so often prefer these for the extra pockets: https://www.nightgear.co.uk/en-UK/511-Tactical-Taclite-Pro-Pant/520495ng.htm (and they take knee pads). I used to use the latter for work and they are very hard wearing.

I'm trying to reduce the clutter! I find that the only thing I need on me aboard is my trusty Leatherman. The big pocket is mainly used for wallet and phone when going ashore without a jacket. The main reason for getting Craghoppers rather than other makes of equivalent quality is that I usually find them in TK Max for half the price of Blacks el al.

I have found that cheaper makes either wear less well or take longer to dry after an unfriendly wave or shower, though Regatta seem OK

I'm trying not to feel victimised................:(
I am approaching nearly twice your arbitrary "cut-off age" and I am quite happy with the sartorial coverage of my posterior and I have a perfectly adequate waist and pelvis arrangement which ensures my jeans do not slip; like a poorly hoisted mainsail on an elastic halyard.

Actually you may have paid me an unintended compliment - I've just seen your assertion about these garments being designed and cut for the younger body :encouragement:
:)

I have trouble finding jeans small enough to fit my 30 inch waist. Those that do do not fall down but some I may need a belt for.
Thighs can be a problem though.

I usualy wear some sort of hiking trousers. These often do tend to fall down due to the elastic in the waist.

Thin, quick drying walking trousers with merino leggings underneath if it's cold. Much easier to wash and dry than lined trousers, and the outer layer dry so fast when wearing them that the leggings rarely get damp. I find it better to have warm legs and be less bundled up around my arms.
