Sailing north from Cadiz to Galicia

Found a juet 24 in Cadiz,small French design with a newish engine,just checking I would be daft to contemplate a voyage in November??

At that size, why not road it?

Otherwise as far as St Vicent, no real problem. After that, is taking chances as they arise, can get some big swells on that west coast during the winter. Wouldn't write it off but could also mebbe winter in somewhere like Lagos and move on in spring?

I don't know the seasonal weather off Portugal well enough to comment, but I imagine it would be a great trip in the spring.

At least nav should be straightforward for the trip, just hang a right when you get to the corner!

Might want to carry something tasty and appealing to orcas to chuck in the sea to distract them from your rudder.

Much depends on the wind after you round the corner. You might have to go right offshore . Best put it on a truck.

When you get to Royan, come for a meal. We are not far.

Years ago, I prepped a motor-sailer going from Vilamoura to Bremen. They had to go quite far off as the wind was NE anywhere near the west coast, used a lot of diesel too.

She is not unaware of my dislike of strong winds and seas but revels in flying spray……..Unfortunatly her grasp of knots leaves quite a lot to be desired?

It sure is as its quite common to have a couple of national sailing teams from various European countries down in the winter for practice sessions.
