Excellent sailing grounds spent three weeks there a couple of years ago in May. Winds steady 20-25 knts with long swell between the islands. Chartered a 43 footer from Starlight (connected to Tenrag in UK) based in Union sailed south to Grenada calling at various islands en route and then north to St Vincent before returning to Union. Bequia is a must (I will probably end my days there), Mustiqe for the celebity bar but not much else. Some very expensive watering holes (Hotel on Myhrew ?spelg) but local Carib beer is quite sufficient and effective. Tobago Cays is the jewel in the crown if not crowded, 2/3 small sandy islands. I believe Starlight have moved the operation to one of the larger islands to make linking with airlines easier. We had to have a small charter plane from Barbados to Union and the trip back was to say the least stormy.

Great place to sail...there are so many places to visit and anchor....lets think Carriacou, on the south east side there are some lovely little islands and reefs...
the island near Kick em Jenny, nice beach good lunch stop when heading north....North east side of Carriacou as well litlle harbour where they build trad boats...then theres bequei (if thats how you spell it) lovely good diving, South coast of Grenada is worth a visit, and its only a short sail to Trinidad, very different from the caribbean, more like south America...best thing is to get a doyles guide, and dont believe evrything you read on Streets guides, we found loads of errors, the charts are OK but the advise isn't, doyle on the other hand is much more helpfull.
I've sailed there twice now, for a full season each time, as part of an atlantic circuit....but still the best place is the Azores!!! and if price is important theyre cheaper as well.....Caribbean isn't much different from UK now
Enjoy it

top place has to go to the tobago cays. boat boys are a bit of a pain but will eventually leave you alone if you decline with a friendly smile. the best anchorage is to windward of the islands, just inside the reef, superb snorkelling.

bequia (port elizabeth) is a good anchorage with reasonable facilities, not too much bother from boat boys but a lot of begging ashore. visit the turtle sanctuary and the pottery (taxi tour of the island). lots of dive schools along the shore & good restaurants/bars.

There is so much for most tastes its hard to even begin.

A good place for information can be found this should put your mind at ease about the boat boys.

Another forum, much like this one, also has plenty of information and can be found here, just follow the link to "forums" and try the Southern Caribbean forum and dont miss the "Trip Reports" and "Charter" Fora.

Have a great time.
