Hi,
Is there anyone out there who may have had or has sailing experience out in Singapore and can give any advice/tips. Either dinghy or cruising ? :)

Thanks

Jeff

Google will give you a few options.

The National Sailing Centre is dinghy school and I believe, but not sure, that you can rent a boat. My wife learned to sail there a very long time ago! It's just off the ECP close to Changi airport, clearly signposted, iirc.

We once had a guided tour of the RSYC, (south west coast). I looked through their books in the rather desperate hope of finding reciprocal privileges with my home berth sailing club. Alas, no. Very, very nice place. Many people are members for the leisure, accommodation and cuisine, not related to boats but very good as a pose to one's friends. Very few yachts in the marina.

Just the thought of it makes me envious. What's your plan?

I just spent a week in Singapore for work and was based next to the Republic of singapore yacht club marina in SMTC - very few yachts in there mainly power boats and it is a small place anyway.

Even though the training centre we were working in used the yacht club for meals we were not allowed to use the same facilities on an evening as we weren't members , there is however a bar on the upper deck that is for non members and was often busy when down stairs was empty.

The training centre next door SMTC is sharing the facility with the college and has several lasers and kayaks in racking. Not sure. If available to joe public though.

Yes we are in SINGAPORE. What sort of sailing do you want to do?
There are lots of options - optimists to picos to lasers to Cats to IRC racing to PY fun racing to Cruising to.... for Adults and Kids, Cruising and racing, expensive options and not so expensive options.

Some great cruising grounds for the weekend away, Tropic anchorages or more challenging sailing whatever you want. Also racing or just pottering around. Check out our website (Susie has written up some of our recent cruises around here) or go the Changi Sailing Clubs website (Can't remember the URL but Google is your friend). Try Raffles Marina, OneDegree15, Kepple Marina, Republic of Singapore YC, Mana Mana Beach club - lots and lots of options...

Are you in Singapore NOW? There is a BIG regatta on at Changi Sailing Club this Saturday for Keelboats. Let me know what you are looking for and I'll be glad to help.
