Can anyone recommend a sailing holiday company other than the usual crowd. My family are looking for something other than the ordinary. In particualr we are keen for a Sail Cruiser. We are keen either Greece, Turkey etc

How do you define "other than the ordinary"? The "usual crowd" have a range of offerings from shore based to fully skippered luxury yachts with just about any combination in between.

Hire an authentic 1930's yacht on the Norfolk Broads. You'll learn a great deal about boat handling, see stunning wildlife, and enjoy fantastic river / lake cruising in a part of the country which will probably be underwater in 50 years from now.

No formal qualifications required, but they do like it if you can actually sail.

Actually, the Broads is a great suggestion. I've had 4 or 5 week long cruises up there. Great sailing, loads of interest, and very good training. You know you've got the helming right when you are making so much use of the width of the river whilst tacking that the overhangs are actually over dry land on each tack!

There are planty of good yards.... Eastwood Whelpton were superb every year!

I sailed a few of the gaffers, Tempest, Trade Wind and Spindrift, all were comfy, well fitted out and reliable...

Spindrift was particularly comfortable, but was soon affectionately known as Plankdrift! Not the quickest boat on the water! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
