Sailing from Ipswich to Essex Marina

There is one small onstacle you might consider..
Essex Marine plod keep their rib just over the river in Burnham Marina.. Their latest missive states that you cannot go sailing because it is not specifically allowed by law... Ignoring the inconvenience that we still live by Common Law, I would. not put it past them to throw their weight about.

Having read the letter via the link on the other thread, I'd suggest anybody affected by this and is a RYA member may wish to contact the RYA legal department to see if they could "engage, educate and encourage" them to withdraw that letter and if Essex Police still feel they must do something then write one which is in accordance with the law rather than something they made up.

Gebe,

I agree, except that many people are not RYA members and underneath there is the very serious issue of the plod writing letters that do not accord with the law. Mind, the local plod closed a road in Brightlingsea earlier in the year without complying with the Highways Acts. When I wrote to them they started getting very snooty and biging themselves up.

I have not seen that letter. Do you have a link to it please? Thanks.

Thank you everyone for your advice, I’ve now decided to buy a boat that is on dry dock at bridgemarsh Marina but I really appreciate all of your advice (:
