Re: Young whippersnappers

250,000 for a first time buyer???? Get real... maybe in the yuppie south east!!!
I know London is the centre of the universe and all roads and railways lead to London but there is a 'rest of the world' out there you know, where a first time buyer can buy a house for 50,000.
This will leave more capital for the boat too /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Don’t feel quite so embarrassed buying Pampers, and if anyone asks I make like I'm an older father /forums/images/icons/blush.gif

Hi there,

Im not too much older than you and have been sailing for years!!. I think you will find that there are many younger people who have boats but dont belong to Sailing Clubs (I personally cant be bothered with all the hoo ha and prefer sailing).

Many of the same age people I have met while sailing tend to do the same !!

Re: Young whippersnappers

Good point about house prices.
People 10 years younger than me (I'm 36) have a real struggle to find anywhere to live at all, and in post Thatcherite, capitalist Britain everyone under 50 is forced to work 70 hours a week. Its only the "Retired Early on full pension" generation that have the time to go sailing.

Re: Young whippersnappers

um, but pre-thatcher, there was lots less work to be had, and the highest tax rates were lots more than 50%. Don't suppose the retired-early-on-full-pension brigade will sell their houses nice and cheap to help out the youngsters, wil they? No, i thought not. There are loads of houses and places to live. But the twentysomethings want nice new houses in lovely places, decorated like on the telly, and why not. Cept they are expensive. Cos everyone else wants one too. Capitalism eh? gits!

Re: Own-up TCM

Sorry to have offended everyone's political sensibilities with my "loud mouth".
The point I was trying to make is that most people these days, of my generation especially, have to work really long hours, and that is not compatible with a time intensive sport like sailing, or indeed anything else.

How can you tell so much about my hair style and accent over a website? That must be some computer you've got!
