The Sail Yacht Rocard is a 46ft live-aboard ocean cruiser, and was a happy home for many years.

When I split up with my then girlfriend Francesca Romana Giordano, I allowed her to "borrow" the yacht until she could get her life sorted. Big mistake! She has decided to leave the country, England, and now refuses to tell me where it is. I have tried asking nicely, but alas she doesn't want to give it back.

Francesca used to be a motorcycle racer, and likes to present herself as a fashionable and happening lady, a social networker for sustainability and a new world ethics.

I have reason to believe that she has taken it back to her home country of Italy. She has been a liveaboard for several years, but often living at anchor offshore rather than in marinas. Due to lack of money and practical skills, the yacht is probably slightly worse for ware in terms of maintenance and she may have had to ask for occasional "favours" to keep the yacht seaworthy.

I have attached photos of Rocard and of Francesca Romana Giordano.

If anybody has seen her or the yacht recently, then please do let me know. I would like to be reunited with my baby.

Jamie

According to myspace, she is still in Cornwall, but I know she is not still there. as of yet, she has not been kind enough to post her location anywhere online.

Jamie - before we all start looking around the marinas and creeks, can you clarify some things, please ?

Are you the sole and rightful owner of the yacht ? Do you have full title to the boat ?

Does the yacht form any part of a formal or informal settlement between you and XYL ?

Have you tried speaking with Domiziana ?

Apart from that, have you contacted the Coastguard to see if the boat is 'known' to them ?

Have you spoken with the insurance company ? They might have been approached to extend the cruising area.

Have you any DSC, Part 1 registration, or similar details ?

This must be very distressing to both of you, and I hope the situation resolves itself properly.

You mentioned in your post that you`ve asked nicely to give it back, so I take it you`ve been in touch since the boat left its mooring or went missing, am I correct?

If so how did you make contact...mobile phone, email etc? If it was via mobile phone the ringing out tone will be different if she`s left the country. Would it not be worth contacting all marinas in or around where she has friends and family? Maybe try Google Earth?

Many thanks for your reply,

The yacht was previously in joint title, but title has since been fully transfered to myself via a court order, and the boat is registered on the Part I registry, but it is no longer insured.

I am in the process of contacting the various authorities, but thought I would I ask here in case it had been spotted, and this could help to narrow down my search.

Thank you for your suggestion about Domiziana, I will need to dig up her contact details, but she may be worth a try.

Word on the street in Falmouth is that the boat is in Sicily. Left Falmouth during the Summer of 2009 for Ireland before heading to the Med. Hope this narrows down your search.

If its via email or Facebook myspace etc, anything requiring internet connection give me the details and I will trace the IP address, I can hopefully give you a 5 to ten miles search radius. Even if its an internet dongle I can track to nearest phone mast. Best of luck

Many thanks for the destination tip, it will help to narrow down my search.

its a little late now but........... i have gps tracking devices that will work anywhere in the world with a mobile phone signal.
if it doesn't have coverage it will store upto 7000 waypoints. Soon as it has a signal it will download and you will know where the yacht is and how it got there.

hope you find her/yacht.

Yacht now located in the Med. :)

You can't leave it hanging like that; where's the moonlit pursuit under wave-pounded cliffs, black-clad ne'erdowells seizing the prize from the villainess and our hero sailing off into the sunrise? I demand a 'Milk Tray' ad-style ending.

We should bear in mind that we have only heard Jaime's side of the story here - Francesca's story is very different........! :)
(Yes, I sent her a link to this thread, and she subsequently filled me in a bit on other details).
