Sail size ??

I have an old day boat and would like to get some new sails. However, they are no longer made, as opposed to getting some made I thought I could I find some 'similar' size sails and if so is there a list of sail sizes anywhere?

Hi,
I have a book from the library called 'The Sailor's Handbook' edited by Halsey C. Herreshoff. There's a section on running rigging which gives the following guidelines :-

All sizes are in metres and square metres

length of boat 6-8 9 10 11
---------------- ---- -- -- ---
mainsail 12 16 19 22
Genoa/jib 20 30 40 50
Spinnaker 45 56 65 90

The edition is 1994 so I guess is reasonably up to date, but perhaps later thinking is different.
But hopefully it will give you something to work on based on the height of mast, length of boom and so on.

as thy have a list of secound hand sail's for sale.
