Re: Are sailboards \"ships\"?

where was I being sanctimonious? I was asking why the sudden rash of threads being resurrected from 2, 3 or 4+ years ago. It was an honest question.

The question was partly answered on another thread which had also been resurrected

Re: Are sailboards \"ships\"?

As a forum veteran on your way to 17000 posts I can understand your desire for shiny and fresh new threads. However some of us 'newbies' are discovering many of these topics for the first time.

In addition to this I think that some threads are worth reactivating. When the forum is a bit quiet some people do go searching through the old threads and occasionally come up with something they would like to comment on.

Even if you encouraged a code of conduct whereby old posts should not be resurrected some relative newbie would inevitably start a brand new thread on subjects which have been covered comprehensively in the past.

If a thread appears to you to be a boring old subject don't read it! Just start a fresh innovative thread of your own?

Re: Are sailboards \"ships\"?

read my question again. I didn't ask why this thread had been reactivated. I asked why so many had been reactivated in a short period of time. Answer was paritially in another thread - someone was experimenting

as a matter of interest, I often used to point people to helpful old threads, but stopped as some of the regulars complained that only new threads should be used. You just can't please all the people all the time

As far as the Col Regs are concerned a Sailboard is a vessel. Rule 3 says that the word "vessel" includes every description of water craft.......and that will include Jet skis too.

The ruling about Jest skis not being sea going vessels related to Merchant Shipping Acts and it is unlikely to have any bearing on Col Regs.

We can't mow them down! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
