I have been lent a nicely cut genoa. It is a "UKSAILS" product and is about 5-6 seasons old.
Its only problem is in the area of the luff, where there are a small number of splits in the U/V sacrificial strip. However, on closer inspection, the splits go deeper into the sail.
To my eye it looks like a sail that has been made with 4 or more layers of sailcloth that have been laminated together. Does anyone recognise this construction? If so, is there a way of repairing the splits?
My current plan is to stitch the breaches and hope for the best. I look forward to the committee's advice.
