Is there any value in old rigging or should l just take it to the dump?

It's worth 50-70p a kg as scrap at most places, so could be worth a few quid.

I take mine to the dump and give it directly to one of the dump men working there. I expect they can get a few £ for it to supplement what I imagine is a meager wage. They are always take it with a smile of appreciation.

If you've got a tall mast, a 'used' capshroud could be useful as a mouse to deliver cables or halyards up the pipe. We like one from the tallest mast in the club so the others have a bit of length to spare. Sell the rest except for the shortest, which you can strip to use single strands for all sorts of useful things.

I heard when Mirabella V went from stainless to carbon rigging they shed about 9 tons.
