If you happen to be passing . . . or within striking distance . . .

Saturday July 11th evening, 21:00 for a couple of hours, at the harbour Arena, Finikounda, Messinia. Display of many styles of Greek dance. Roman style arena - concrete seats - bring something to sit on if you don't have much padding. All comers welcome, free of charge, usually with sticky cakes and a glass of wine at the end.

Loads of anchoring room - as long as (very unlikely) southerlies don't blow. If you don't like clarina music (that wailing sound) don't come. If you like picturesque costumes, and to see twenty different ways of dancing in circles, this is for you. Greek village at play.

We'll be sipping draft beer in Gardenia Cafe at the root of the quay, 19:30

I saw it two years ago with a couple of friends from my UK village - great fun. But the contestants came from far and wide, from islands and mainland, one team from Thessasaloniki.
It does go on rather - I was offered a seat by a child, encouraged by parents' blows, which was a relief after the 1st 90'.
Hope you collected Caroline safely!!!
