RYA to scrap tidal/non-tidal distinction

Thing is , many tidal sailing schools have so little tide it can be safely ignore, so this change really doesn't make much difference.

I dont think that applies to most of the North West Uk sailing schools! Perhaps the Solent is a different kettle of Fish!

I would suspect anyone getting in to sailing and planning on being based in a tidal area like ours would rapidly take up a day or two of practical training on a supplementary course if it were to be offered.

I know Philiz and Kwackers both do a significant amount of PB training work to help those unfamiliar with navigating our little "Cut"

The locally sail based trainers and Plas Menai are usual chosen by proactive people who intend to start sailing in our area (Perhaps after they have quailified med style on charter.) This enables them to be familiarised with local dangers in safe hands.

More reactive people would take up the option after experiencing a badly timed trip over the numerous bars and overfalls around here if they survive!

Digression Alert
TSB240 "..if they survive.." Good morning, that's a red rag to a bull! I'm ticking off the chapters from David Rainsbury's "Fearsome Passages" are you talking about Bardsey Sound? Looks peasy :) :) LD

You can tick off two chapters in one day if you want with a passage from Caernarfon to Pwllheli!

I respect Bardsey sound but have much the same feeling for the tidal gates at South and North Stack, The Skerries and Point Lynas...... which are on the usual weekend training route for the school boats as they circumnavigate..

I would make sure you experience the Bar in the RWYC though!
