Hi Folks,
helping my parents sell their much loved Rustler 36 and have set up a basic site to advertise it, it seems others on here have done similar.

I'm really a novice when it comes to web-design and selling boats so if you have any comments about the site (too much or too little info, missing pics of things people want to see, that sort of thing) I would be very pleased to have it.

thanks

Looks good, only thing I would say is that you are trying to sell a dream and so it is recommended to show internal pics set up in such a way to show the 'lifestyle' you can expect with such a boat. Things such as made beds, laid table with wine and even candles, sink empty of dishes and washing bowl etc. Thing of every picture not just as an informative description but a chance to really 'sell' the boat. I didn't see much in the way of sailing photos, surely you must have some.

Thanks, the boat has been stripped of most of the personal stuff but I agree about the sink - will ask for a better shot.

agree about sailing pics, will ask for some.

George, firstly, very nice boat. Sailing pictures are missing - these always add feeling (as has been said). The other thing I found myself doing (as I am looking on a larger screen) is wanting to see bigger pictures of int and ext spec - perhaps the same size as the home page ones but, maybe you are limited to the size you are using - wasn't sure.

Otherwise, IMO it was a nice informative and easy to use site.

Quick first impression...

gives a good idea of a nice, clean and well looked-after boat.

Actually, the fact that the internal photos are NOT the professional ultraglossy, completely unrealistic images of the top brokers' sites (e.g. JR's), they give me an excellent impression of what she is likely to be NOW and when (if) I were to own her. So well done!

Pity about the price.

Not that it is wrong.

Just that I can't afford her :o

Just a general comment, it's all very well creating a site but you have to get people to go to it. They won't find it by accident so you have to get as many links to it out there as possible.

One way is to do a post on a yachting forum asking peope what they think of your advert. ;)

It works, I have been doing some sums this morning to see if I could possibly afford it!

Exactly my thoughts - he's probably a broker & Mum/Dad don't own the boat.

I'd ask for a discount, considering condition of sails -

Looks very nice but I'd like to see the heads (always a good indicator of boat care!), under sail and boat out of the water.
If only I could persuade the crew that we need a new boat!

that is just not right: you know full well that I am addicted to the porn you and john peddle on your sites (I have them bookmarked)....

The photos of the OP are NOT on that scale.... I was just trying to give a balanced view, that sometimes the view of a CLEAN and TIDY but LIVED IN and used boat does have its attractions. For f**ks sake, that Rustler is PrettyPristine for her age...

When I sold Higly Sprung I put together a PowerPoint style video for You Tube, contact details at the end and lots of key words in the title to help google find it. Seemed to work well combined with ads on the free sites with links to youtube.
