Hi
I have twin Volvo 4.3 Gi petrol engines on my Sealine S28. After a trip out I checked the engines and found fine rubber dust under the starboard engine at the front, below the serpentine belt.
What does this mean? belt too tight, too lose? How do you adjust the belt?
Thanks

It can be caused by a bit of corrosion on the pulleys.

A product called belt slip is good to use on a regular basis.
Can you see rust on the inside groove of the pulleys.

My Yamaha Inboard would do this for fun but beltslip improved matters.

Some one will be along to advise on adjustment as I'm no expert but usually its done via the alternator.

It could be wrong alignment, wrong tension, or a time-expired belt beginning to shred itself. Belt Slip is good, but you would be prudent to think about having a spare set on board, and reading up the manual to see how to fit a new belt and adjust it.

For the price of a couple of belts change them. Or get someone to do it for you, one hours labour max.
