We are taking part in the Round the Island Race on Saturday 21st June and have space on board for an experienced yachtperson (preferably Solent based) to enjoy a good days sail on a 34ft cruising yacht.

Always used to go and sit off St Catherines point and watch the big boys flash by. Much more exciting than sitting amoungst boats of a similar size all the way round although last years recall of one section added to interest!
Always thought we should race round the 'correct' way - we could call it the AHOY (instead of HOYA) race. Any takers?

I'd be up for that ... if it were a northerly wind/forums/images/icons/smile.gif .. there must be cruisers coming back from France that run into an unexpected mass of GRP as they approach the Needles Channel or off Bembridge!

We sailed out from Lymington and through the Needles Channel a couple of years back to spectate the race. Has a couple of East Coast sailors aboard who were gob smacked. Sailing back through the Needles Channel while the smaller boats were still exiting was like driving the wrong way up a motorway.
