Hi all, I am bringing a boat MFV from Rosyth to Arbroath very soon and wondered what is the best method/types of getting charts for the journey? Onboard will be the last owner, the new owner (me) and a good mate that has yachtmaster papers and lots of on the water time. The only thing we dont have is charts, I would think that my sailing will be around the tay estuary and perhaps back to the Forth for some island hopping later in the year. This means I am happy to buy the charts as they will get used for much more than just the boat getting delivered back here.
I have searched for charts but there seems to be a few different types and I am unsure as to whats required, what scale etc and things of that nature.
Regards and thanks
Alan

Admiralty charts are the standard by which others are measured. They come in various 'flavours' from commercial to cruising yachtsman.

If you are going to use them a lot in future (as opposed to "just" switching on a GPS) then the investment is worthwhile as they are robust and last for ages.

Probably the best ones to go for are the Leisure series, as they are in excellent plastic wallets, and come in groups for different areas. Each set covers the planning one (large scale) as well as all the little creeks and harbours at various scales.
