Roland Wilson Guilty!

"One crew member suffered minor head injuries and another abandoned ship after the collision with the 120,000-tonne tanker."

Did the one abandon ship or fall over board?

Abandoned, I gather, a few seconds before the expensive noises started. He ended up on the starboard side of the HK,

There might be some boating relevance in conflicts between leisure pursuits and local residents. There is quite a bit of cycle racing where I live, and I have no problem at all with the mild inconvenience of occasional delays. However, I think I would be pretty peeved if I was told that for a whole day I would not be able to get to or from my house. After one tack incident a local resident was arrested, but he was cleared of all charges.

We have regular closures of the village here - ok, it doesn't prevent vehicular access to my house, but a one day event that is advertised and agreed well in advance and I suspect a parking provision made for the residents away from the closed area is not much of a hardship ... it's not as though they're baracaded in their homes.

The Scottish thing bars vehicular access to a rather large chunk or Perthshire. A car park is all very well but less useful if it's five miles from your house.

It seems not to be now. I think the organisers may have learned from previous years that closing a continuous loop for a whole day was not popular. Curses, I am not going to make my fortune selling remote controlled tack sprayers after all. Ah, well, better ring up Knutsen Lines to find out if they are interested in that 50m wide pillow idea.
