I don't think anyone ever denied that pods+joystick make life easier to newcomers.if you had someone totally new to boating, which would they find easier to berth?
It's rather the opposite, in a sense - i.e. some of us think that this argument, which is unquestionably true, is actually abused (sort of) in comparison of the value of getting experienced in non-joystick operation.
Which is just a matter of practice, at the end of the day.
Ref. the sterndrives lover who fears that we (the anti-IPS gang
1) we can still distinguish between IPS and sterndrives
2) being shot down in flame in a forum is part of the fun - name me someone who has never been, if you can...
PS: if you will eventually go for an IPS boat, being fully aware of all its pros and cons, who is anyone else to argue? Just don't forget to post some pics! :encouragement:
My only suggestion would be to take a bit of time to practice also with joystick operation, which takes a bit of sensibility to avoid the nasty side effect I mentioned in post #13.
