25kg stolen off the boat in Albufeira Marina between October 19th and November 20th, reported to the maritime police who could not have been less interested or helpful.

So sorry to hear that. Leaves a nasty taste.
Thankfully Lagos is pretty much watertight. Patrolling security Guards have to insert their cards at the end of each pontoon every few hours on their 24 hour patrols.
Having said that, the unsavoury likelihood is that it was probably a visiting boat rather than a local opportunity thief.
I will advise the couple next to us who have a very expensive Spade with stainless steel chain on their modest 28ft steel boat.
