Robbins Elite plywood. Any comments?

Will it give a good finish when varnished? I am refitting my Konsort and have hit a brick wall with ply. The stuff I have seen so far is not very good to put it mildly.

Not used it yet but Robbins Elite was what I was thinking of using on my fit-out. Robbins are recommended by Selway-Fisher Designs for boatbuilding in ply...

Depends on which "Elite" you are considering. It is a good quality structural ply using Gaboon veneers in its standard form. Robbins say it varnishes well, but it may not match the existing finish in your boat. Super Elite uses mahogany veneers and Super Plus sapele. You can also get stripy sapele - very popular for dinghy decking or veneered in other hardwoods.

If matching is important then you need to look at the sheets to find the one that is the best match.

Not at all. we have disagreed frequently, however when you have been here for a while you will learn that there are posters who have real experience whose opinions are worth considering and even debating, and then there is the other kind.
