It is unlikely that I will be taking my frigate through there in the near future, but I wonder if this isn't quite a common order prior to exercises taking place or some such.

Kalingrad is around 54N, 74N is way north, above Norway. It's the Baltic area, perhaps you are thinking of Murmankls area?

I was. We used to cross a bit of no mans persons land flying to/from Japan in the far north between Russian & Scandic airspace and but I just looked, that's way over the Arctic at 77.5N 66.0E.

Just looked at Google maps, the area mentioned is near to Gdansk.

I try to avoid the far north, we went to Kirkenes once on a cruise. Was 5C in August and pretty bleak.

We can't stray into current affairs these days, but watching a slow motion train wreck springs to mind.

Yes today message JA65 through Navtex, this ''J'' station sends messages stamped by Kaliningrad, German, Polish etc nav warnings. I have a Furuno unit one has to scroll to read the full length so could not photograph the full text, I found the image above in the internet


I also have the first one about Orcas attacks/interactions, dated 2020 IIRC
