Rigging a small jib sail

Hi,

My 26 foot Beneteau yacht came with a number of additional small jib sails.

There are deck fittings for the inner forestay immediately aft of the forestay rigging point.

With the inner forestay attached, the stainless steel rigging line only starts at about 800mm above the deck fitting. A block and tackle connects to the deck and tensions the inner forestay line.

The problem is, the lower hank of the jib sail is in line with the block and tackle lines.

Can anyone suggest how one should connect this bottom hank?

Thanks!

Change it foe a velcro strap, or a piece of string
Thanks for your reply.
So if I understand correctly, I should forego the Hank and use a small loop that goes through the sail's eyelet and around the 4 lines of the block and tackle?

Next winter fit a longer forestay. Jimmy Green or your local rigger can easily make one up. When I fitted an inner forestay I reused an old shroud from when I replaced my rigging. I was happy to do this as it is not critical to hold the mast up and I wanted to be able to use my old hank on sails especially downwind twin headsails as I'm getting a bit old for singlehanded spinnaker flying.

I guess your inner forstay is the length it is do that it can be stowed tidily somewhere. If so, try a short wire strop to 'move' the tackle's upper block downwards a bit. Cheaper than a new forestay, too!

That's an excellent idea. When not using the inner forestay, it attaches to the base of the mast - this probably accounts for its length.

Why not just go round only one of the tackle lines? It will have sufficient tension on it.
I'm sure that in the real world it would be fine but. Metal hank on a thinnish piece of string will wear andthe individual falls are at 1/4 the tension of the main wire so will pull out of line.
If swapping to a strap is too much bother I would probably leave it completely unattached
